College/Pre-Med Programs
In addition to our programs for high school students, UT Southwestern encourages college students to learn more about careers in medicine, science, and research. We support programs that increase career awareness and provide valuable employment experience.
Annual Conference
- UT Southwestern Research and Health Careers Conference
The Office of Student Empowerment and Engagement hosts the Research & Health Careers Conference each year. The Conference is for students interested in careers in medicine or biomedical research. Attendees hear from representatives from all four schools at UT Southwestern – the Medical School, Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, School of Health Professions, and School of Public Health.
Summer Research Programs
- AMGEN Scholars Program at UT Southwestern (AMGEN)
The AMGEN Scholars Program at UT Southwestern’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is designed to provide an intensive research experience to outstanding undergraduates who have the goal of pursuing a research-intensive career (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.) in the field of biomedical science. Scholars take part in an intensive, full-time, 10 weeks, hands-on residential summer research program in leading-edge UT Southwestern research laboratories.
- Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF)
The Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) Program at UT Southwestern’s Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences is an intensive summer research training experience designed for college students who are preparing for Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. careers in biomedical research. Fellows spend 10 weeks (beginning in early June and ending mid-August) pursuing individual research projects in the laboratories of Graduate School faculty members.
