Endocrinology Research
The Division of Endocrinology at UT Southwestern encompasses all aspects of endocrinology. A variety of clinical and basic research efforts are directed by a diverse faculty whose expertise spans the spectrum of endocrine disease. Areas of particular strength include steroid hormone biosynthesis and metabolism, endocrine development, and reproduction.
Research Interests: How cells and tissues regulate intracellular lipid storage and utilization and its effects on systemic glucose and lipid metabolism.
Research Interests: Global diabetes program to improve the lives and health of people with diabetes through patient-centered evidence-based care, education, research, and community partnerships.
Research Interests: Advancing diagnosis and treatment of patients with pituitary, adrenal and neuroendocrine disorders through multidisciplinary patient-centered care, education, and research.
Ildiko Lingvay, M.D., M.P.H., M.S.C.S.
Research Interests: improving lives of diabetes and obesity patients through understanding of pathophysiology of disease and development of optimal treatment regimens.
David G. McFadden, M.D., Ph.D.
Research Interests: chemical and genetic approaches to identify new targets for therapy for small cell lung cancer, thyroid cancer and pediatric sarcomas. The lab uses genetically-engineered mouse cancer models and human cancer cell lines as model systems.
Peter Gerhard Zechner, M.D., Ph.D.
Research Interests: establishing forward genetic approaches in round worms and mammalian cell lines to identify factors that regulate phosphate homeostasis.
