Taking Aim at Alzheimer’s

Marc Diamond, M.D., founding director of UT Southwestern’s Center for Alzheimer’s and Neurodegenerative Diseases, has transformed the scientific community’s understanding of why conditions such as dementia progress. His lab has discovered that abnormal assemblies of the tau protein move among cells and serve as templates for their own replication. Dr. Diamond’s ideas are the basis for new therapeutic approaches for Alzheimer’s and related disorders.
