In February, the Department of Surgery partnered with the UT Southwestern Medical School to attend the annual residency fair in Washington D.C., hosted by Howard University.

This is the second year in a row for  members of the Department of Surgery general surgery residency program to attend the residency fair, but the first time to partner with the medical school to reach a larger audience. The annual fair “provides an opportunity for residency programs from around the country to network and share program information and research opportunities with prospective applicants.” The event is free, and other medical schools in Washington D.C, Maryland, Virginia, and Philadelphia are also invited to attend.

This year, surgery residents Gilbert Murimwa, M.D., and Alexis Desir, M.D., led the effort, meeting with prospective applicants and promoting the UTSW residency program.
