UTSW and Children’s On a Mission to Enhance Pediatric Care in North Texas

 

After collaborating for nearly 60 years, UT Southwestern and Children’s Health have entered into a more formal partnership that promises to enhance pediatric care in North Texas.

Pancreatic Cancer Patient Summit

 

The third annual Pancreatic Patient Summit is establishing itself as a regular and anticipated event for UT Southwestern. The summit provides an opportunity for patients who have been affected by or are living with pancreatic cancer to learn about disease management from the experts.

UT Southwestern Frisco Now Open and Accepting Appointments

 

After a great deal of planning and much anticipation from the community, the UT Southwestern Frisco medical office building and its associated Texas Health Hospital are now open.

UT Southwestern Frisco Location to Open This Winter

 

This winter, UT Southwestern Medical Center is coming to the North Texas suburb of Frisco. The facility is a partnership with Texas Health Resources, and the two health care giants are bringing expert care to the fastest growing city in the United States.

In Memorium: Surgery Remembers Dr. Robert N. McClelland

 

Dr. Robert N. McClelland, emeritus professor of surgery, died on September 10, 2019, after an extended illness. Dr. McClelland spent his entire career at UT Southwestern following graduation from medical school. Generations of students, residents, and faculty members knew this humble giant as “Dr. Mac.” His profound impact on the training of surgeons at UT Southwestern extended over six decades.

Professional Development Series

 

The Surgery Faculty Professional Development Series is now in full swing, having wrapped up its first two presentations of the series. The first featured speaker of the series was Andrew Ziskind, M.D., M.B.A., who is the senior executive officer of Southwestern Health Resources.

New Research Infrastructure Now Available

 

The Department of Surgery announces the Surgical Center for Outcomes, Implementation, and Novel Interventions (S-COIN).

New Divisions in the Department

 

The Department of Surgery has split the division of GI/ endocrine surgery into the division of endocrine surgery and the division of colorectal surgery.

New Clinics at Texas Health Dallas

 

This year, the Department of Surgery expanded its presence by opening two clinics at a community hospital, Texas Health Presbyterian, in Dallas: the UT Southwestern Bariatric Surgery Clinic and the UT Southwestern Surgical Oncology Clinic.
