Awards

Kareem AbdelFattah, M.D., the director our general surgery residency program, received an Early Career Achievement Award in Academics from his alma mater, the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. 

Announcements

Emily Arner, a graduate student in the Brekken lab, is the first-ever UT Southwestern trainee to receive an F99 grant from the National Cancer Institute. She won the grant for Deciphering Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Cellular Plasticity and Metastasis, and it will fund her work through to her post-doctoral years. 

Ryan Dumas, M.D., became an associate member of the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma and was elected as vice chair of its associate member council.
