Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas Neuro Intensive Care Unit
Our third ICU is a 12-bed Neuro-ICU at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Texas Health Dallas is also a Level 1 Trauma Center and has earned the Det Norske Veritas (DNV) Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification. This ICU has 12 beds and offers advanced technologies and comprehensive neurocritical care, including complex trauma care in collaboration with neurosurgery, neurointerventional, trauma, and general surgery teams. The Neuro ICU is fully equipped with neuroimaging capabilities including cerebrovascular ultrasound, EEG, and other advanced brain and spine monitoring capabilities.
We collaborate closely with the Neurophysiology service, a distinguishing feature of our division.
What we do
Our Neurosciences ICU at both Clements University Hospital and Parkland Hospital are equipped with continuous video-electroencephalographic (video-EEG) capability in every room with 2000+ days of continuous EEG performed annually.
- We have a 24-bed, state-of-the-art Neurosciences ICU at the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital. A CT scanner, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanner, and angiography suites are located next to the ICU. The neurosurgical operating rooms and the post-operative care units are also in proximity.
- A 12-bed Neuro-ICU is located at Parkland Hospital, a Level 1 trauma center that serves as Dallas County’s public hospital. This ICU provides special expertise for the care of patients with TBI, including the ability to monitor brain oxygen, temperature, and intracranial pressure.
