Caregiver Education Programs

Our multidisciplinary approach acknowledges the impact of cognitive disorders on families and care partners, providing resources and activities to help them manage cognitive and behavioral symptoms.

What we do

Improving community knowledge about dementia is important to demystify cognitive decline and destigmatize the people affected by these conditions. In addition to hosting patient and care partner-oriented conferences such as "The Hopeful Alzheimer's Symposium”, our team engages with community organizations and community health fairs to improve awareness and recognition of cognitive decline.

Our clinic’s caregiver support group provides a forum for family members to better understand dementia, ask important questions about symptoms a person is having, and help plan for the future. This provides a valuable platform to learn from others’ experiences for families facing what can often be an isolating disease.

In addition, we have an ongoing Lewy Body dementia caregiver support group, which utilizes an online format to enable more patients and family members to participate without requiring travel to our campus for meetings. Led by Sheilah Storch, LCSW, this group meets monthly for discussions and presentations that span the medical, psychological, social, and practical aspects of managing this complex disease, with specific attention to the varied manifestations and symptoms associated with Lewy body dementia.
