Noboru Mizushima, M.D., Ph.D., awarded inaugural Beth Levine, M.D. Prize in Autophagy Research

Biochemist and molecular biologist Noboru Mizushima, M.D., Ph.D., of the University of Tokyo, discussed his lab's recent discoveries during the inaugural Beth Levine, M.D. Prize in Autophagy Research in a ceremony at UT Southwestern.

Japanese biochemist and molecular biologist Noboru Mizushima, M.D., Ph.D., accepted the inaugural Beth Levine, M.D. Prize in Autophagy Research in a ceremony at UT Southwestern Medical Center on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023. In his presentation, titled “Exploring Autophagy: From Yeast to Mammals,” Dr. Mizushima discussed the significant strides his lab at the University of Tokyo has made in unraveling the complex processes of mammalian autophagy, a fundamental cellular mechanism responsible for maintaining cellular health and functionality.
