Cynthia Hernandez: 25 years
Patient Liaison
Patient Liaison Services
First UTSW job: Guest and Patient Services (GPS) Ambassador.
Best part about my job: Working for the patients, hearing them say “thank you,” and feeling their smiles of relief in knowing that they are important and matter to UT Southwestern.
How co-workers describe me: Adaptable, compassionate, sincere, dependable, and extremely selfless; a positive person who is a delight to be around. One said that I go above and beyond to help everyone on the team – and especially our patients.
Funniest UTSW memory: Once, when I was working with GPS, I was called into a storage room. As I opened the door, a co-worker jumped out of one of the huge boxes that wheelchairs come in. A few words I can’t mention came out – followed by crying, then laughter. They got me really good!
I’m really good at: Cooking for family gatherings.
Hobby: Going to see our grandsons play in baseball tournaments every weekend – even if it means traveling across the state. I’m their No. 1 fan, and I bring along cowbells and pompoms to get their teams fired up.
Final note: I’ve been married for 35 years and we have two children – a boy and a girl – along with a daughter-in-law and three handsome grandsons.
