Betty Harmon: 30 years
Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialist
Coding and Clinical Documentation Integrity
First UTSW job: I was hired as a Medical-Surgical Nurse in 1988.
Best part of my job: Although I don’t work at the bedside anymore, I enjoy working with physicians and other medical personnel to ensure the patient’s medical record is accurate and complete. In addition, I am proud to be part of such a highly regarded institution, especially with all of the research and health care strides that are making a difference in people’s lives.
How co-workers describe me: A dependable team player with a good sense of humor who is always there to help new employees and assist co-workers.
Surprising fact: I picked up quilting about 10 years ago and now have a dedicated sewing room in my house. I love traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.
Best memory: My best memories are from working as a floor nurse and being able to bring comfort and maybe a little humor to the day of really ill patients and their families.
Final note: I’m married with two daughters, two grandbabies, and a third on the way! Being a grandma is my favorite job of all!
