Allison Beaver: 25 years
Clinical Research Nurse Administrator and RN
Urology and the Office of Clinical Research Personnel
First UTSW job: I started as a Research Nurse in 1993.
Best part of my job: It’s the variety that each day brings with the different research studies. My research team and I have a great opportunity to help offer new treatments or medications that patients may not be able to get anywhere else. My new role in the Office of Clinical Research Personnel allows me to help grow our clinical research community to provide additional support and guidance.
How co-workers describe me: Organized. The best way to be successful in clinical research is to be organized. This is second nature to me and I actually love it. They also say I’m a good listener. Many people come to me to have me just listen to complaints or ideas they may have – sometimes confidentially. They know I will not share the information and that I truly care and want to listen to them.
Surprising fact: I didn’t care for research in nursing school. In fact, it was my least favorite class!
Best memories: Interacting with many different departments on campus throughout the years. Not many people get the opportunity to work with as many different departments outside of their assigned one.
