Nurses Week 2019: Reasons to celebrate

This year for Nurses Week, we wanted to show off the smiling faces of some of our 2,500 nurses. Since the national theme is “4 Million Reasons to Celebrate,” we asked everyone to share their nurse-related reason to celebrate – in photos. Here’s a sampling of what we’ve received so far. Have a great one to add to the gallery? Send it to us via campus.updates@utsouthwestern.edu, along with your reason, name and department, and we’ll try to include it in this gallery. Keep checking back this week for more photos. And Happy Nurses Week 2019!

![Elizabeth Vial, RN, BSN, BMTCN, OCN, Assistant Nurse Manager, 11 South, Bone Marrow Transplant / Oncology: There is nothing better than doing a job that you love with a fantastic team of co-workers! The team on 11 South took time to gather outside of work and celebrate together when I was honored as a DFW Great 100 Nurse. It is so special that I can call this team both co-workers and friends!](/ctplus/asset/509b7a52-cfb8-4500-9b2e-2b6c492d5e23/11south.jpg?rendition=rendition-x180)

![Noel Beboso, B.S.N., RN, CCRN, Surgical Intensive Care Unit: It's really rewarding when you see your patient doing well after their liver transplant, coming to visit you at work from home, and appreciating every effort you made for them. Love it! It warms my heart. And he brings us cookies with UTSW decor on it. #NursesWeek #utswnursesrock](/ctplus/asset/a9f2cb6b-e28f-48cc-852c-86f66289b246/beboso.jpg?rendition=rendition-x180)
![Sharon Le Roux, Interim Nurse Manager, 11 North: The CUH 11 North oncology nurses have a tradition of celebrating their patient’s end of chemotherapy treatment with a ringing of the bell ceremony prior to discharge. Their smiles and the ringing bell in their hand symbolizes the hurdle they have overcome on their cancer journey.](/ctplus/asset/ef822710-08d5-45a4-a31e-7ab79bdb55de/bellring.jpg?rendition=rendition-x180)
