National Hispanic Heritage Month celebration

The UT Southwestern community gathered on Oct. 12 to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month. The fourth annual UTSW event, called Unidos: Inclusivity for a Stronger Nation, was part of a nationally designated month that ran Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. The festivities included a panel discussion, music, artwork, and a reception.

Singer-guitarist Jan Garcia, a Clinical Research Coordinator, performs accompanied by Jacob Frie, a Senior Business Analyst, on tenor saxophone.

Ms. Garcia sang the Latin songs La Llorona (The Weeping Woman) and Bésame Mucho (Kiss Me a Lot).

Ms. Hargrove’s art was on display at the event. Her subjects include the Aztec deity Quetzalcoatl and an Aztec eagle warrior called Cuāuhtli.
