Thousands of UTSW employees, loved ones support 2019 Dallas Heart Walk

Five people in blue shirts and red tutus attending the Heart Walk — An estimated 60,000 walkers turned out for the Dallas Heart Walk 2019 to promote heart health. Many family, friends, and co-workers supported the cause in groups.

More than 100 UT Southwestern teams helped raise more than $32,000 for the American Heart Association as they participated in the 2019 Dallas Heart Walk. More than 5,000 walkers registered connected to those teams. Flip through the photo gallery below to see all the ways participants showed UTSW pride and promoted heart health.

UT Southwestern was among dozens of institutions, organizations, and companies to turn out walkers at the starting line at the Heart Walk.

UTSW President Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky greeted all the UTSW teams.

UTSW Vice President and Chief of Staff Dr. Robin M. Jacoby, in good spirits, handed out some UTSW-themed keepsakes to walkers.

Kerinthia Hamilton, whose mother Marion Hamilton works with UTSW, pitched in at the UT Southwestern booth showing some of the swag participants picked up.

UTSW employee Angel De La Fuente showed off some of the other keepsakes from the Benefits and Wellness Program.

It’s an annual tradition for UTSW Executive Vice President for Health System Affairs Dr. John Warner to attend the event with his daughter, Lauren.

UTSW employees from various departments display their team spirit.

These team members brought along bright smiles.

This group of nurses and their loved ones stay focused on heart health.

No walker was too tall or too short to hit the street for the walk.

And no participant was too young to join in on the fun either.

The event made for a perfect family affair.

This girl was in a great mood for the walk.

This boy was lucky to hitch a ride on top a set of strong shoulders.

Many walkers showed up with their furry friends to hit the course.

Pooches both big and small took part.

Although, some little doggies were a bit camera shy.

Many walkers brought along a big dose of personality to hit the pavement.

Others couldn’t resist clowning around for the camera.

This group gave a big wave hello.

These walkers came coordinated to take the perfect photo.

The event was a perfect opportunity to capture a great group selfie.

With her UTSW heart in hand, this walker gives a big thumbs up to the camera while keeping a strong stride in the crowd.

Hydration was key to keeping walkers in step.

Some walkers even had enough energy left over to scale the climbing wall.

This group burned enough energy to earn a sweet treat.

This pair seemed to have a good time, but with two tuckered out pooches in tow.

The walk seemed like no sweat for these women.

The day looked like a breeze for this walker too.

It was all love from these two.

And these children were all heart.

In the end, it was a great show of heart, love, and peace and a good time had by all.
