The Center for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases (CAND) is a multidisciplinary program focused on developing effective diagnosis and therapy. Since we were founded in 2014 by Marc Diamond, M.D., we've grown from a team of nine to over 35 faculty members, postdocs, students, and staff.

Our research encompasses structural biology, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, and mouse and human studies.

We are actively recruiting new members, and are eager to train and support the next generation of researchers in neurodegenerative diseases, in both basic and translational studies.

Students in the Center are studying under various graduate programs, including Immunology, Molecular Biophysics, and Neuroscience. These programs are part of the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Students typically enter under the Basic Biomedical Sciences umbrella program, and join individual Ph.D. programs during the second semester. Contact the CAND centeralz@utsouthwestern.edu or Dr. Marc Diamond marc.diamond@utsouthwestern.edu for more information.
