Pediatric Cardiology

The Pediatric Cardiology Division provides comprehensive care for children with heart disease, conducts seminal research, and oversees a nationally recognized training program. A few notable highlights include:

  • Perform more than 460 fetal echocardiograms and consultations annually
  • Certified IAC and JCD-specific
  • Participate in multi-institutional research efforts through the Fetal Heart Society and the NPCQIC
  • Run Preventive Cardiology Clinic
  • Published more than 30 published research papers in 2019

Our faculty offer specialized care at the Heart Center at Children’s Medical Center for children with congenital and acquired heart diseases. The Heart Center's team of professionals includes cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, cardiac intensivists, neonatologists, and cardiac anesthesiologists. The program at Children’s Health was ranked 28th nationally in Pediatric Cardiology by U.S. News & World Report for 2022-2023.

The Division provides inpatient and outpatient services at the Heart Center at Children’s Health℠  Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Children’s Medical Center Plano. One of the most active heart transplantation programs in the country operates here, as well as outpatient clinics serving 12,000 patients per year and a Preventative Cardiology Clinic.

Our Division faculty participate as editors, reviewers, study section members, and representatives to academic subspecialty societies. Staff also conduct wide-ranging research projects. Advanced Imaging Research Center gives our staff access to novel cardiovascular research technology.

Our Division boasts 27 board-certified pediatric cardiologists, each with a special area of expertise, including: Critical care medicine, interventional catheterization, electrophysiology; advanced imaging such as cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computed Tomography (CT); and fetal cardiology, cardiac transplantation.

Fellowships

The Division of Pediatric Cardiology’s fellowship program provides fellows the training, tools, and philosophy necessary for advancing the field of pediatric cardiology within their areas of choice. Fellows rotate through all subspecialty areas of cardiology, as well as participating in prospective clinical, translational, or basic science research for one year.
