The Department of Neurology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School offers an ACGME-accredited residency program in adult neurology and in pediatric neurology.  The neurology training program is designed to provide the highest quality clinical training in general neurology and the major neurological subspecialties.  Trainees receive extensive clinical experience in the inpatient and outpatient setting supervised by an active, energetic faculty with a wide variety of clinical and research interests.

Residents train in a busy, but highly efficient, county hospital (Parkland), in a private University hospital system, at the Dallas Veterans Administration hospital and in general and subspecialty outpatient clinics.  A structured didactic curriculum, numerous teaching conferences and electives provide a strong foundation in the basic and clinical science of Neurology.

The pediatric neurology program is administered through the Division of Pediatric Neurology based at Children's Medical Center of Dallas.  The full-time faculty members in pediatric neurology represent a broad range of interests including general clinical neurology, neonatal neurology, epilepsy, neuromuscular disease, cerebrovascular disease, pediatric neurophysiology, and behavioral and learning disorders.

MRI-LPH After completion of their training, residents are equipped with the clinical and communication skills necessary to excel in either academic or private practice settings.  Our program is designed to promote a lifetime of interest in the nervous system.
