| One way to be evaluated and treated for depression is to participate in a research study. If you live in the Dallas area, and are interested in participating in a clinical trial, the Mood Disorders Research Program and Clinic at UT Southwestern offers free confidential screenings for depression and anxiety. Help is also available from psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, family doctors, employee assistance programs, community mental health centers, clergy, hospital psychiatry departments and outpatient clinics. To find professionals in your area, look in the Yellow Pages under "mental health", "social services", "crisis intervention", and "hospitals". In times of crisis, the emergency room may be able to provide temporary help for an emotional problem. To locate a specific professional you may also want to search the mental health websites on the Links page.
