UT Southwestern University Hospital offers both adult and youth volunteer opportunities in a variety of areas. Our volunteer ranks include professionals, high school and college students, homemakers and retirees.

Our volunteers help continue UT Southwestern’s tradition of caring service and assistance to our patients, guests and staff. We offer challenging and rewarding opportunities to help others and grow as individuals. Our volunteers have the opportunity to explore new interests, share their talents and meet new people. Whatever the volunteer’s interest, we can help find an area in which he or she will make a difference.

Hospital volunteer duties are primarily clerical and customer service in nature. There are weekday, evening and weekend positions available. Most volunteers work once a week for a three to four hour shift. Adult volunteers are asked to make a one-year commitment. College students are asked to make a two-semester or 100-hour commitment.

To participate in the youth program, volunteers must be 14 years old or have completed eighth grade. The annual seven-week summer program begins in mid-June and continues through early August. Applications for the youth program are available on April 1.

Contact UT Southwestern’s Volunteer Services department at 214-645-1840 to obtain an application packet. Information may also be obtained by e-mailing UTSouthwesternVolunteers@utsouthwestern.edu.
