UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Surgery has a long-standing tradition of excellence in providing clinical care to patients while educating residents and students. The medical center is home to the largest surgical residency program in the U.S. and boasts a comprehensive program of surgical offerings for patients. Our surgical programs include transplantation surgery, pediatric surgery, surgical oncology, burn/trauma/critical care, emergency medicine, gastrointestinal and endocrine surgery, oral surgery, and vascular surgery.
In addition, the department administers a collaborative program, UT Southwestern’s Center for Minimally Invasive Surgery, which educates residents and surgeons in practice, and oversees growth of clinical programs and innovations in minimally invasive surgery techniques. In June 2006 this program was one of only seven in North America to receive accreditation as a Level I American College of Surgeons (ACS) Accredited Education Institute.
UT Southwestern’s state-of-the-art facilities allow our team of skilled physicians to achieve superior results in surgeries ranging from routine outpatient procedures to the most complex operations.
Surgeons are integral members of patients’ care teams, collaborating with referring physicians to achieve optimum results. Our dedication to providing expert and compassionate care makes an important difference in our patients’ treatment and changes their outlook on the future. UT Southwestern physicians show patients how they can achieve a renewed state of health they may have not thought possible.
UT Southwestern’s comprehensive medical resources enable patients to have an initial consultation, testing, follow-up visits and any needed medical procedures all in one location.
