UT Southwestern Medical Center’s pediatricians deliver the highest standard of care for critically ill children needing intensive treatment for conditions such as croup and rheumatic fever. Our physicians working at Children’s Medical Center Dallas annually admit and treat more than 2,000 patients, giving the facility one of the highest admission rates in the U.S.

Depending on their diagnoses, critically ill children are assigned to one of four pediatric intensive care units (ICUs) at Children’s:

  • General medical-surgical pediatric ICU
  • Cardiovascular ICU
  • Trauma-neurologic injury ICU
  • Level II pediatric ICU.

A team of medical practitioners then assumes primary responsibility for patient care, drawing on state-of-the-art capabilities for treatment. Each child receives the benefit of a staff of experienced, compassionate physicians and nurse practitioners offering the best in comprehensive care.
