Physicians in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Comprehensive Obstetrics and Gynecology Program strive to develop long-term relationships with their patients through many years of quality patient care. State-of-the-art comprehensive women's health care is available from this team.

Every woman is encouraged to have an annual well-woman exam by a gynecologist. At UT Southwestern, gynecologists and nurse practitioners provide expert evaluation and treatment services in a comfortable environment.

Gynecology and well-woman services include:

• Routine annual well-woman evaluation (breast and pelvic physical exams, Pap smear, and other laboratory and imaging studies as needed);
• Counseling on issues of contraceptive selection and use, and HPV vaccinations for adolescents and young adults;
• Assessment and management of pelvic infections, endometriosis and other common as well as complex problems of the female urinary and reproductive tracts;
• Management and treatment options for menstrual problems like heavy bleeding and PMS;
• Pregnancy confirmation;
• Management and treatment options for the symptoms of menopause; and
• General gynecologic surgery, such as hysterectomy, as well as procedures using minimally invasive techniques such as laparoscopy, hysteroscopy and endometrial ablation.

Obstetrical care includes:

• Prenatal care, labor management and delivery by dedicated physicians and nurses;
• On-site prenatal ultrasound service;
• Options for prepared childbirth classes, breastfeeding classes, sibling touch classes, and infant/child CPR;
• Sale and rental of breast pumps;
• Delivery services at UT Southwestern University Hospital, St Paul Building and Parkland Memorial Hospital; and
• Referral of high-risk problems to UT Southwestern specialists in maternal-fetal medicine.
