UT Southwestern Medical Center offers expert, compassionate care and state-of-the-art resources for the diagnosis and treatment of balance, hearing and facial nerve disorders, including Bell’s palsy. Our specialists provide effective treatment plans for patients experiencing dizziness, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) or gait problems, hearing loss, and weakness or paralysis of the face.

Our program offers comprehensive diagnostic testing for all systems related to balance, enabling our specialists to determine the source of problems, including those related to disorders in the inner ear or brain. By analyzing how the balance systems are functioning, our specialists can diagnose the source of a patient’s vertigo or instability and prescribe the appropriate treatments.

Patients with hearing loss, tinnitus (noise in the ears) and other conditions are evaluated by a team of specialists led by an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat physician). Our specialists help patients and families fully understand and evaluate their medical options, including how medications and other treatments can improve hearing.

For patients with facial nerve disorders, our specialists provide medical, surgical, and rehabilitation treatments that can improve or even reverse conditions such as distortion or deformity in the face, an inability to close the eye, paralysis or twitching. With the appropriate therapeutic intervention provided at UT Southwestern, our patients achieve remarkable results and improved quality of life.

UT Southwestern’s program for balance, hearing and facial nerve disorders offers patients the medication, surgery and rehabilitation therapy needed to help overcome their conditions and gain a renewed outlook on the future.

Patients with facial pain or nerve injuries can also be treated by our dentistry and oral surgery and pain management services.
