Gynecology and Obstetrics

For more than 40 years, UT Southwestern’s obstetrics and gynecology physicians have been recognized for their contributions to women’s health care and their commitment to the compassionate delivery of quality health care to all patients.

Our OB/Gyn physicians are devoted to helping women maintain optimal health and well being and treating health-care problems that might arise at each stage of life. We offer comprehensive gynecology and obstetrics and well-woman services as well as specialized programs in:

The Lowe Foundation Center for Women’s Preventative Health Care provides an integrated approach to health care for peri- and postmenopausal women. We also partner with Children’s Medical Center Dallas in our joint Pediatric-Adolescent Gynecology Program to care for children and adolescents with gynecologic problems.

Our physicians not only care for patients, they also train other physicians. Our faculty members are responsible for training 80 OB/Gyn residents and 17 subspecialty fellows, making our department the largest obstetrics and gynecology training program in the United States.

UT Southwestern Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology faculty are responsible for authoring several major OB/Gyn textbooks, including Williams Obstetrics, Williams Gynecology and Essential Reproductive Medicine.

Our faculty physicians also maintain a robust research program with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and are recognized by their colleagues for contributions to evidenced-based medicine. Through this approach, our physicians measure the results of treatment options to determine their effectiveness. If the treatment proves effective, we incorporate it into our medical practice and publish the results for other physicians to use.

Our outpatient programs are located in clinical facilities on the UT Southwestern campus. We also have a satellite maternal-fetal medicine office at Children’s Medical Center Legacy in Plano. Inpatient services are performed at UT Southwestern University Hospital as well as our affiliated partner hospitals - Children’s Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital. For the convenience of our patients and referring physicians, our high-risk pregnancy specialists provide inpatient consults at several hospitals in north Dallas and Collin counties.
