The Department of Family and Community Medicine is developing a strong research core to support innovative research on primary care and community and population health.
- Qualifications: Doctorate degree (Ph.D., M.D., D.P.H., or other similar degree) in social science, behavioral health, social work, public health, health services research, or a related field. Experience in academia/institution of higher learning, particularly academic medicine required. Position will be at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor, commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience. Consideration may be given to applicants seeking less than a full-time schedule.
- Experience: Must have a strong track record of funded research and high-quality publications; excellent grant writing skills; and the ability to collaborate with other researchers and clinical faculty. The ability to bring extramural funding to UTSW is a plus.
- Duties: Write and secure extramural research grants, particularly NIH and other federal funding, to support research activities; mentor faculty and trainees on research and manuscripts; and assist with building collaborations with other departments, institutions, and community partners.
- Desired qualifications: Expertise in one of the following research areas: health disparities, HIV, cancer and cardio- metabolic disorders, behavior health, or trauma. Experience in team science and leading small group research projects is desirable.

The UTSW Family Medicine Residency Program was established in 1996 and has grown through the years, graduating over 300 family physicians since its inception. Summary:
The Program Director is responsible for leading all administrative, clinical, and educational activities of the Family Medicine Residency Program including the quality of education, curricula, rotations, and care in our large, multi-site practice. They are also responsible for the maintenance of ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) accreditation of the program. The Family Medicine Residency Program Director will partner closely with institutional and departmental leadership, and the medical and hospital staff, to ensure consistent delivery of highest quality patient care and resident education in a cost-effective manner. The Program Director will maintain active involvement in inpatient and outpatient clinical practice and resident teaching.
Miniumum Qualifications:
- Full, unrestricted Texas Medical License
- Graduation from an ACGME Family Medicine residency program
- Certification by the American Board of Family Medicine
- Ability to obtain adult and newborn privileges at UTSW, Parkland and Texas Health Hospitals
- Outstanding clinical skills, including significant recent experience caring for inpatient and outpatient newborns, children and adults, and performing ambulatory procedures
- Outstanding educational and administrative skills, with minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in family medicine education
- A commitment to recruiting and retaining a diverse family medicine workforce
- Demonstrated intentional and responsive support of resident development, especially a history of prioritizing resident well-being

Job Summary
The Families Impacting Stress and Health Lab, in the Department of Family and Community Medicine, seeks a Population Science Coordinator to join our team. The lab is directed by Dr. Sarah Woods and funded by the National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities to adapt, and pilot test a culturally-responsive, family-based intervention to support hypertension self-management among African American primary care patients.
The Population Science Coordinator, in collaboration with the PI and other team members, will be involved in facilitating participant recruitment and data collection for this clinical trial. The successful candidate will be integrally involved in building relationships with family medicine patients to support their participation in the study and help to adapt the intervention in response to participant feedback to maximize the intervention’s acceptability. As such, we aim to find a candidate who is passionate about working in healthcare, and with diverse communities.
The successful candidate should also demonstrate strong communication skills, with evidence of team-based collaboration in fast-paced environments.
Preferred Education & Experience
- Master’s degree in marriage and family therapy (or related mental health or public health field)
- Experience working with underrepresented families
- Strong research skills
- Experience with participant recruitment in primary care, dyadic counseling or couples/family therapy, and data management
- Current enrollment in a COAMFTE-accredited family therapy doctoral program

Duties:
- The Hyperbaric Fellow will be trained in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, which comprises the clinical use of hyperbaric oxygen, wound care, and other uses of hyperbaric oxygen, and the appropriate critical care interventions necessary for the treatment of patients including hemodynamic monitoring, ventilator support, fluid resuscitation and the interpretation of arterial blood gases during therapy.
- Under the direction of the faculty, the Fellow will be responsible for, student and junior house-staff orientation and scheduling, inpatient and outpatient consults, and call for consults and emergencies.
- The Fellow will complete a research project under the guidance of one of the faculty members in the Hyperbaric Medicine Unit and submit an abstract or paper for presentation at a national meeting or for publication.
- The fellow will participate in center conferences, seminars and in the education of medical students, residents, and house-staff who rotate on the service.
- The Fellow will participate in external rotations at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Diving Medicine Course, and / or similar courses and other rotations external to and within Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, UT Southwestern Medical Center, and its affiliates as directed by the fellowship program director.
