Veterans
At UT Southwestern Medical Center, we value your integrity, dedication, and the commitment you’ve made to our country.
If you plan to use Veterans’ Educational Benefits while attending UT Southwestern, the Office of the Registrar can help you with certifying your veterans benefits.

For questions about these programs or determining your eligibility, visit the GI Bill® website. Specific questions about eligibility for VA Benefits should be addressed to the VA.
GI Bill® is a registered trademark of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). More information about education benefits offered by VA is available at the official U.S. government website at http://www.benefits.va.gov/gibill.
Students utilizing VA Benefits at UT Southwestern are also encouraged to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), so that eligibility for other aid (including student loans) can be assessed.
Scholarships and VA Benefits
As required by VA rules, UT Southwestern will certify the amount of tuition and fees charged to a student, less any tuition and fees specific scholarships. Most scholarships at UT Southwestern are not specific to tuition and fees and will not impact the certification amount. However, there are some scholarships designated specifically for tuition and fees which will impact the certification amount. If you have questions, please financialaid@utsouthwestern.edu.
Also, be advised that medical students may be able to use the non-tuition portion of their VA benefits (stipend, housing allowance, etc.) during residency after medical school. This can be useful if you have scholarship funding during medical school, as you likely won't during residency.
