For New Employees

Obtain a Parking Permit
All faculty, staff, and students who park a vehicle on UT Southwestern property, whether the property is owned or leased, are required to pay for parking. Fees are assessed at the beginning of each fiscal year. There is no free parking.

Check My Eligibility for Benefits
As a benefits-eligible UT Southwestern employee working 30 hours or more a week, you can get free health insurance for yourself, excellent rates for dependent coverage, plus dental and vision insurance for you and your benefits-eligible dependents.

Enroll in Benefits
- Go to My UT Benefits.
- Under “Enroll Now,” click “My UT Benefits.”
- Click “Get Started.”
- Follow the prompts to add your dependents (spouse and/or children).
- Update your tobacco survey responses.
- Click the tiles to select or decline coverage.

Set Up Direct Deposit
Prior to receiving your first paycheck, you must set up direct deposit as your method of payment.

Get My Scrubs
UT Southwestern provides proprietary scrubs for faculty, house staff, and medical and PA students practicing in clinical areas where scrubs are required, including William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital, Zale Lipshy Pavilion, and Outpatient Surgery Center.
Scrubs are distributed through badge access at the Scrub EX Stations located in the following areas:
- Clements 2nd floor, north side surgical area
- Clements 3rd floor, north side surgical area
- Zale Lipshy surgical area
- Outpatient Surgery Center

Change Tax Deductions (W-4)
For tax withholding preferences, go to PeopleSoft > Employee Self Service > Payroll > W-4 Tax Information.

Change My Benefits Due to a Life Event
You have 31 days from the date of a qualifying life event to complete changes to your benefits that are consistent with that event. If you do not make eligible changes within this 31-day period, changes cannot be made until the next annual enrollment in July, to be effective the following September 1.
- Go to My UT Benefits.
- Click “Life Event” in the left menu.

Submit an Employee Verification Request
Request verification of employment for reasons such as applying for a loan, credit card, job, apartment lease, Medicaid, subsidized housing, etc., at UTSW Human Resources Administration (requires VPN).

Change My Address, Name, or Email Address
To keep your personal information up to date in the UTSW system, go to PeopleSoft > Employee Self Service > Personal Details.

Get Tuition Assistance
Full-time employees who have completed 12 months of employment with UT Southwestern Medical Center and are in good standing are eligible for $5,250 in tuition reimbursement for courses taken from a regionally accredited college or university.

Learn About PSLF
As a UT Southwestern employee, you may be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program through the U.S. Department of Education. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan while working full-time for a qualifying employer.
